Steven D. Levitt’s recent post reminded me of the urban legend a professor of mine told me while I was studying securities analysis at the University of Delaware.

I remember when he wrote the name, and I sat their confused for a moment as to the origin of the name. I then heard him pronounce the name in a less ethnic tone that made it sound like the product it was derived from. It’s still such a vibrant memory from college. I just wish I could remember the Black-Scholes model as well.
