Hawking's Latest

And I quote...

Sooner or later, disasters such as an asteroid collision or nuclear war could wipe us all out. But once we spread out into space and establish independent colonies, our future should be safe.

...

However, we can still within the law, by using matter/antimatter annihilation, at least reach just below the speed of light.

With that, it would be possible to reach the next star in about six years, though it wouldn't seem so long for those on board.

Any one of my friends wants to chime in on that?

I, for one, welcome our planet-traversing overlords.

Seriously though, I think living on another planet would be an awesome experience. I wouldn't want to do it permanently, but I would like to see what it would be like.

Humans are parasitic though, and by inhabiting more and more planets, we're just going to consume all their resources unless we impose changes to our culture that prevent us from destroying other potential homelands as we're doing with Earth.

Well, that's all I got. In conclusion, I'm looking forward to time travel more than I am space exploration :P
